"A hotel room is no place to raise a family."

Hotels are not just for tourists and commuting business people any more. On any given day, hotel rooms throughout the Quad Cities are "home" for those who can't afford to rent a home or face multiple barriers to housing. For this family of four - mom, dad, and 2 teenage sons with special needs and abilities - they have lived in different hotels for the last 6 months. The last hotel was charging $380.00 per week - - unaffordable and not safe - - and they were approaching their 28 day limit. Today, using their own income, the family is renting an HHSI 2 bedroom apartment for $575.00 per month.
